H2O House Washing

Soft Washing Brisbane

Soft washing is the method I use on house exteriors where high pressure would be too harsh. It combines low pressure with a suitable cleaning solution so mould, mildew and grime can be lifted without stripping paint.

What soft washing is for

It is suited to painted exterior walls, render, weatherboard, eaves, balustrades and other surfaces that need a gentler clean.

The goal is to let the solution do the cleaning work, then rinse carefully rather than blast the surface.

When pressure is not the answer

High pressure can damage paint, chew into softer surfaces and push water where it should not go. I reserve higher pressure for hard surfaces such as concrete and pavers.

How I approach it

I work one section at a time, wet and protect nearby areas as needed, apply the cleaning solution, let it dwell, then rinse with low pressure.

If a surface is already failing, such as peeling paint or damaged render, I will point that out rather than pretending a wash can fix it.

Questions I get asked

Is soft washing the same as pressure cleaning?

No. Soft washing relies on low pressure and cleaning solution. Pressure cleaning relies on force and is better kept for hard surfaces.

Can soft washing help with mould?

Yes, it is the usual approach for mould and mildew on painted house exteriors where high pressure would be risky.
